I recently bought a D-link USB datacard for surfing Internet, I was quite sure that my ISP provides 3G network in my area so I decided to enjoy its superior 3G Internet but when I plugged the dongle in my PC I found that except normal 2G GSM signals I was getting nothing else.
Since I was sure there is 3G in my area and I found my friends using it too, I decided to relocate my PC, I shifted it to different rooms of my home but I didn't got any 3G network then I decided to create a simple easy signal booster for Internet data-card and when I used it, surprisingly It start getting 3 out of 5 bars of 3G network, I was getting nothing earlier.
To create the simple signal booster for your dongle, you need three things - a plastic cold drink bottle, some aluminum paper foil and a tape.
Pickup the plastic cold drink or soft drink bottle, cut its conical neck and a small portion of its base so that you get an even cylinder open from both top and bottom(refer the below image). Like what you are seeing in the image below, cut the cylindrical portion of the bottle into two equal halves from the center. Take one of the half, wrap it with aluminum foil as shown in the image and stick the foil with bottle with the help of tape or glue so that paper foil doesn't come out later.
That's it, your simple signal booster is ready now stick it to wall or something as you can see in the image, this will 'grab' the available network signals which weren't coming earlier.
It is not required to restrict yourself to this cylindrical design, you can create and test your own designs too and see if it works, if they do, let us know too.
